The Acacia baileyana Purpurea (Mimosa) is a evergreen tree that can grow in bush form and can grow higher than 3 meters.
In winter and spring it blooms and is really full of fluffy yellow flowers (called mimosa).

The mimosa originates from Australia and has spread itself troughout the subtropical regions of the world. In Argentina, South Africa and the west coast of the United States the plant is used because of it's properties: tolerance of drought, can be placed in the full sun and offcourse because of it's beautifull flowering early in the year.

The leaf is finely sprung silver / blue and runs to purple colored, contrasting with the bright yellow flowers. Acacia grows fast and can be pruned regularely. Pruning is easy and the plant will always start growing underneath where it has been cut. Beware however, the plant blooms very early in the year (february) and cutting it late in the year will mean there will be no flowers. It is advisable to do this well in time.
Mimosa prefers to be in full sun. It can also be kept in a tub.
