Carex ornithopoda Silver Scepter is also known under the name Zegge, this species remains rather small. From Carex there are more than 1000 different species that distinguish themselves in color and size. There are deciduous species but also those that are evergreen.
Carex actually occurs all over the world and there is no specific origin. In the Netherlands too many species of sedge grow in the wild.

Generally you can plant the Sedge in a damp to wet place, they tolerate it very well. The Carex also wants to grow in other places, but the rule is that they prefer a slightly damp place over a very dry place.

It is an ideal plant to put accents in your garden. The flowering of ornamental grasses is of course a feast for the eyes. The Carex ornithopoda Silver Scepter flowers in June to July with flower plumes and the plant is about 30 cm high.
This Zegge has beautiful silver white fur and pretty long elegant leaves and really puts an accent in your garden.

The Carex ornithopoda Silver Scepter remains very good in the winter. This ornamental grass is good as a tub plant, grasses are easy to care for.
