The Cyathea cooperi is a tree fern originally from Australia. It is one of the hardiest tree ferns and can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C. The Cyathea prefers a shady spot in the garden.

This tree fern originally comes from Western Australia. However, it has spread across the world and is commonly found in places like Madeira, Hawaii, Tanzania, and New Zealand. The Cyathea thrives in these areas where the average temperature is high, but especially where the humidity is high.

The plant prefers a humid environment. It grows best in a forest with frequent rainfall. The larger trees protect the plant’s leaves from the harsh sun. A sunny spot is definitely not recommended. Shade is essential. Too much sun will cause the leaves to burn quickly.

In the wild, the Cyathea can reach up to 15 meters in height. In the Netherlands, it will definitely remain smaller. The crown's diameter can grow up to 6 meters, though it will also be smaller in the garden.

Hardiness: -10°C
