Palmbomen-palms Butia capitata - Jelly palm

The natural habitat of the Butia capitata consists of savanna and deciduous forests where the monsoon climate prevails.
The nice thick trunk typifies this species and can reach a diameter of 50 to 60 cm.

The height of the palm is more than 6 meters. In Argentina, cultured specimens of 18 meters have been observed. Overwintering inside is no problem, for example if you hold the palm in a tub.

It is an elegant appearance with its beautiful gray / green feather leaves. Can be kept as a tub plant but also in the open ground. Protect light in the ground in the winter if more than moderate frost occurs.

This species does not make any further demands on the soil type. This palm tree can withstand temporary droughts but likes to have some water in the summer for a nice full growth. Fertilizing is allowed every 6 weeks.
