Agave congesta is a well known species of agave. An other name for this plant is: Sierra San Cristobal Agave. It originates from Mexico where it can grow up to a meter in height and 2 meters in diameter. When the plant flower, which it only does after many years, its bulb can grow up to 8 meters in height.
The plant itself has a darkgreen to white colour. It's leaves come together in a dark brown spike which should be respected.
It can survive the winters in full ground when the soil is not too wet. This agave, like many others, does not like wet feet. It is however better to keep it in a pot, especially when the plant is still young.
