Centella asiatica is also known as tigergrass or Gotu Kola.
The plant is common in Africa, Asia and Oceania. it grows in swampy areas where there's plenty of water. The plant does not grow too high but will cover up the bottom fast when it's given the chance.
The plant has various functions in Asia, it is edible but is also used in the farmaceutical industry. It's used in many dishes, used as garnish or even chopped up and processed in smoothies. Another function is for skin care. The name tigergrass is derived from this. Often tigers are seen with wounds on their skin that are liying in these plants. It is believed that certain substances in this plant help with the healing process. Today you can see many skin care products that have Centella extract in it.
