Echium fastuosum also known as Pride or Madeira, originates from the Canary Islands and Madeira.
Echium flowers with soft blue plumes that can grow up to 30 centimeters.

Echium fastuosum is not hardy and the minimum temperature is just below freezing.
Echium is best kept as a container plant.
Overwintering at a temperature above the freezing point is fine and if possible a fairly light place.
If overwintered cool and in hibernation, the plants may lose their leaves in winter. 

From May to July, the flowers that bloom beautifully above the leaves will appear in upright flower clusters. When in bloom every 2 weeks give a small amount of liquid manure. The soil may remain reasonably humid in the summer.
The tub plant may be pruned back considerably after flowering.
