Gynostemma pentaphyllum is a perennial with a beneficial effect.
This herb plant has not been known for a long time outside Asia and is a very special herb. This creeper is found in Southeast China, Japan and a large part of Thailand.
In China the plant is known under the name jiaogulan and can not be ignored in traditional Chinese medicine.

The application of Gynostemma pentaphyllum can be done around the leaf.
Tea can be made from this, but the leaf can also be processed in salads.
It tastes more or less like licorice and is reasonably sweet.
In China, where jiaogulan tea is frequently consumed, the average number of 100 year olds or older is much higher than elsewhere.
Immortality herb is bursting with antioxidants and gives the body more resistance, better for the heart and blood vessels and gives a lot of energy.
Reduces blood sugar and cholesterol levels significantly and has a beneficial effect on your blood pressure.
In July and August the flowering consists of small white flowers and after flowering dark purple berries appear. 

This perennial is hardy and has no problems with our winters. However, she will lose her leaves in winter and/or die partially above ground, after which the plant will come back in spring. Plants that we deliver in winter no longer have leaves, this appears in early spring. 
If kept as a tub plant at +16ºC or higher and sufficient light then you can harvest leaves for tea all year round.
