The oil that is won from the berries can be used as an aromatic scent but also has anti viral properties. The berries can be used in the kitchen as well where it has a flavour that reminds one of lemongrass, pepper, thyme and ginger combined.
In the tropical habitat this tree grows very fast and can reach heights of up to 15 meters. In northern Europe the tree grows a lot slower as it is not well suited to the cold climate. In colder winters it will not survive, however the most danger comes from too much water and the tree can survive mild winters when it has good drainage.
