Musa acuminata Grand Nain is a beautiful banana plant that grows vigorously and produces delicious fruit. The Grand Nain produces the same sort as the Chiquita banana.
The leaves are green and are quite large.
The Musa acuminata Grand Nain grows up to 300 to 400 cm high.
This banana variety also gives bananas that are very tasty. This species is one of the most important clones for the fruit growing of, among other things, the bananas that are in the supermarket.
Before bananas appear, a large flower grows on the banana plant, which is purple in color with white flowers. When the flowers have finished flowering, bananas appear on the plant that can grow to 25/30 cm. Plants of 2 years old develop flowers and subsequently fruits.
The Musa acuminata Grand Nain quickly makes new shoots, because after the banana has bloomed and given fruit it will die off. The new foothills then grow into a new mature plant.
Keep the banana above + 6ºC (ideal is minimum + 10ºC) and preferably it is as sunny as possible.
The banana may be outside on your terrace during the summer, for example, the warmer and sunnier the better.
This variety also works great as a greenhouse plant, ensuring sufficient light. When we send the bananas in a package, we may cut back the banana leaf. These grow back very quickly.
Keep the soil slightly moist and fertilize with cow manure grain or Houseplant focus every two weeks.
Winter hardiness zone 12 (+ 6ºC).
