The Musa chiliocarpa is a bananaplant that grows up to 3 meters in height in the wild. In Europe it will not grow to these heights. The leaves of the chiliocarpa are comparable to that of the Dajiao. During the summer months this plant will like some extra water and fertilizer which will enable it to grow strongly and give more chance of flowering.
The flowering is the part where this banana gets really interesting. After 4 to 5 years there is a chance of flowering and when it does than this banana will do so plentiful. When the flowers are fertilized a row of hundreds of small bananas right next to each other will appear. These bananas don't have seeds in them but are too small to be eaten. In winter keep them dry and at a temperature of minimum + 10ºC.
When the banana is done flowering its stem will die off. The plant has already made shoots of new growth and will continue to grow from here.
When we send bananas it might be possible that leaves will break during transport. Sometimes we cut off leaves as a precaution. However, these bananas grow very fast and will recuparate fast.
