Ruscus Italian is a winter green bush and a very special plant that is closely related to the asparagus.
Young shoots of this plant can be eaten and flavored to asparagus.
The old branches were previously made in Italy.
The plant grows very slowly and the maximum height is approximately 100 cm and the width is 80 cm and this lasts for years.
A slight shadow to a shady place is well tolerated by the Ruscus Italian, as well as a sandy or clay soil.
In spring, on the elongated deep green, stiff smooth leaves on the bottom of the leaf appears a small white flower.
After the bloom there is a berry. This is initially green but in the fall colors this bright red and gives this a spectacular face.
These branches are great for decorating in a flower piece for Christmas. These remain well on the vase for more than 4 weeks. The plant is winter green.
The root of the Ruscus Italian is incorporated into an extract for medical use against various ailments such as vascular veins, improved blood flow, strengthening the veins and capillaries, hemorrhoids and anti-inflammatory action.
The Ruscus italian is good winter hard and can be planted well in the full soil, you do not need to take any precautions. If planted in a pot, make sure that the pot can not freeze in winter.
